PRI 2016: Dynocom Dyno X Hub Dyno And Quantum Software

Dynocom Industries [1] has over 30 years of experience in the high-tech manufacturing of automotive software and hardware systems globally, with their United States headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, opening its doors just over a decade ago.

In that time, Dynocom achieved many industry firsts that blasted their products into the spotlight, and still continues this trend today as the fastest growing dynamometer company in the world. With products for everyone from your basic smog inspection shop to a high performance race shop requiring hardware capable of handling high roller speeds and tons of torque. [2]

While at the 2016 Performance Racing Industry [3] trade show in Indianapolis, Indiana, we stopped by the Dynocom booth to see what new products the company is excited to share with consumers.

Dyno X Hub Dyno [4]

Dynocom brought along their DC-POD portable hub/axle dyno fitted with their entry-level Dyno X system that is capable of supporting up to 2,400 horsepower at the hub. The hub dyno differs from a conventional chassis dyno in that instead of driving the vehicle onto a set of rollers and strapping the car down with ratchet straps, you simply remove the drive wheels and bolt the system directly to the hubs. It can be used with front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and can even combine two systems for all wheel drive applications.

This eliminates many of the external variables that commonly skew the output of chassis dynamometers, such as the rolling resistance and drag produced by the wheels and tires; and the uneven downward force caused by variances in the ratchet straps. This system can be purchased in pairs with certain configurations for less than $30,000. [5]

Quantum Software

The company’s recently updated Quantum dynamometer control software is packed full of features and tools that professionals from any industry will find useful. From graphing and data logging, to 3D mapping and virtual racing (0-60 mph, 0-100 mph, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, full mile, etc.), the Quantum software does it all with an extremely user friendly interface.

The software even includes enhanced PID feedback for more advanced load control and the ability to filter out gear changes and specific frequencies that may hinder your ability to accurately compare dyno runs. You can run virtual road simulations, slope tests, constant load tests, and a step test. [8]
