Undoubtedly, the new Nissan GT-R’s are turning out to be just as popular as their predecessors– for the price point, the power and appearance is nothing short of incredible, comparing to vehicles double, even triple, their price. But, the best thing about the R35; Nissan isn’t quite done with it just yet.
A huge makeover to both the Premium and NISMO editions came along with the launch of the 2017 model year. Now, the “base model” Premium is coming in at roughly $110,000 and the NISMO, with quite a price jump, at $175,000.
Now, they are introducing a third model to the lineup, the limited production Track Edition. As previously stated in a press release, Nissan claims the Track Edition “occupies a unique position between the “T” (touring) and “R” (racing) sides of the GT-R equation,” essentially giving customers a happy medium between the two existing options.
The new model will sport the same impressive tuning as the Premium edition, pushing 565 horsepower from its twin-turbo V6, but will feature a plethora of track and performance-oriented goodies. The upgrades start with additional adhesive bonding to the body, increasing rigidity, and continue throughout the vehicle with NISMO tuned independent suspension, NISMO-spec tires, and some weight reduction. Nissan’s signature front grille was also upgraded to make for extra cooling when compared to that of the base model. Aesthetically, the Track Edition comes with NISMO front fenders, 20-inch NISMO wheels, a unique carbon-fiber spoiler, and, of course, Recaros.
“Building on the major upgrade to every GT-R for 2017, the Track Edition is an amazing package inside, outside and under the skin,” said Micheal Bunce, Vice President of Product Planning, Nissan North America.
It will make its in-person debut at the New York International Auto Show April 14-23 and will be available by order only at dealers late summer, with a starting price of $127,990.
